You can see our anchorages along the west coasts at Basseterre, Ballast Bay, and Pinney's Beach. We used to sail through the shallow Narrows between the islands, but the winds were not favorable the 2 times we visited this time. Basseterre itself is a miserable anchorage - rolly and full of oil. We only went there to clear customs and immigration, and when we got there in the dark. Pinney's beach, on the other hand, is one of our favorite anchorages in the Caribbean, with its long palm-lined beach under Nevis Peak. Ballast Bay was new for us and pleasant enough, with nice snorkeling and some nice trails on shore, but it's also where our steering decided to give us a wake-up call -- with guests on board (of course).
