Urchin city, off the south point of Bora Bora is the same after 30 years.
Urchin city, off the south point of Bora Bora

Kathy's journal notes, continued:

Pam & Kathy up before sunrise.  Coffee & granola.  Dinghy to the big motu, shelled to Bora Bora Nui Hotel, bungalows on piers, walked out pier to bar/restaurant.  They have a hole in floor looking down into lagoon, with bread in a basket to feed the needle fish and trumpet fish.  Musicians on the balcony across the large room.  Pam took Sue to help her ask about the song she'd learned on Bora Bora 30+ years ago.  They didn't recognize it, but suggested she ask older musicians.  Back to Ocelot for hummus (from mix we brought) and cucumbers on crackers.  Upped anchor to move Ocelot to Matira Point, Chris to run water maker while engine running.  Problem detected with water maker that Chris worked to diagnose -- with help from Jon and the manuals.   Dinghied out close to the barrier reef around lagoon to snorkel.  Water very clear, but lots of sea urchins and not much other life (except schools of tiny blue fish).  Moved the dinghy closer to the hotel where Pam remembered good snorkeling.  Water a bit more cloudy but reef in better shape with lots more life.  Jon saw the small shark that Pam mentioned in her email to Neil (must have wanted to get his attention).  Rum punch, Amanda's beef stir fry, Scrabble -- Chris won on points, Kathy on speed.
