WHAT'S NEW ON THE SITE

Newcomers, see our website description section Welcome to the Hacking family website with Sue, Jon, Chris, and Amanda on Ocelot, our 45-foot Wauquiez designed catamaran. We've been on this trip since December 2001, sailing from the Caribbean through the Panama Canal, across the South Pacific, and into the Indian Ocean. We stayed in Australia from November 2005 through July 2006. During the cyclone season (November-April) we left Ocelot in the Brisbane River on the pilings while we toured inland and did boat projects. We left in May to begin our 2,200 mile journey up the coast of Queensland and over the York Peninsula to Darwin. Although sailing to Australia was our original goal when we left St. Maarten in 2001, we joined the Darwin-Kupang, Indonesia Rally which left in July 2006, and we're cruising for 5 months in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Christopher will be leaving university for 3 months to join us in Thailand in December. From there we plan to sail west to India -- but like most cruisers, our plans are prone to change on short notice! Stay tuned! Ongoing improvements to photos -

----- September 2006 ----- We've started our coverage of Indonesia by publishing illustrated
versions of the newsletters we sent out while cruising this fascinating
and predominantly Muslim country. Our coverage of Australia now includes new pages on Brisbane,
Queensland's Coral Coast, and Northern Australia. We've added and illustrated 4 new Australian Newsletters, covering our
sail up the Queensland coast, past the Great Barrier Reef, across the top of
Australia, and Darwin. We've now trashed our old, automatically (mis)generated site map
in favor of a much more compact and intuitive page with explanations. ----- April 2006 ----- Our coverage of New Caledonia now includes new pages on
Noumea, the western reef, the Isle of Pines, and Prony Bay. We've added some new photos and information on parrotfish, sharks and
butterflyfish from the dives we did in Tonga, Fiji, and New Caledonia. Want to build your own website? Jon has published some tricks and traps for
others attempting to put together a website like ours.

----- September 2006 ----- We've added a new Cruising
Info section that's designed specifically for cruisers
following in our wake. A new page here is a detailed description
of what's necessary for transiting the Panama Canal. Jon's father, Colin, joined us (for the third time) for much of
our Great Australian Road Trip. Australian Flora & Fauna is totally amazing, and a bit overwhelming.
We have good photos of many of the more common animals and plants. We've done some great scuba dives in Indonesia, with schools of
new tropical fish and vast fields of both hard and soft corals.
We've also included GPS locations for all our dives. ----- April 2006 ----- After Chris went to university we were very glad to have Amanda's
cousin Tianna come visit for 2 months. Jon has started brewing his own beer and found it's not only cheap
but fun! He's added a section on how to do this on board.

Our new Cruising Information section contains valuable cruiser-specific info for folks following in our wake, like: transiting the Panama Canal, yacht provisioning, frequently asked questions, the Galapagos, the Marquesas, Tonga, Fiji, and links to other cruiser sites. |

The Flora and Fauna section documents many of the plants and animals we've encountered, broken down by region. There's also a Marine Mammals section. |

The Underwater pages showcase our underwater photography and scuba diving. Our diving pages now contain GPS locations so others can dive these sites as well. |

On our Ocelot pages you can see pictures of the boat from the deck, cockpit, and inside, her layout, specifications and even some of the modifications we've made to turn her into an ocean cruiser. |

Jon is an Electrical & Computer Engineer (see his resume) so his pages include his technical slant on some of the boat systems as well as a collection of stories from when we cruised in the 1980s. |

Sue's pages include the culinary aspects of cruising (provisioning info and recipes) and insights into the cruising life. Sue, aka Sue Muller Hacking, is a writer (see her bio) with several published books and hundreds of articles to her credit. |

Chris writes about our inland travels, underwater photography, his projects and schooling. |

Amanda brings lots of pictures, her unique teen perspective, plus school projects. |
